This is a capture of one real cured flower, rebuilt in three dimensions from photographs. Nothing is modeled by hand and nothing is generated. What you spin above is measured light.
720 photographs of one bud. A motorized rig walks a 24-megapixel camera through full orbits of the flower, so every calyx, leaf, and trichome is covered from multiple angles.
Photogrammetry software compares each photo against the rest, works out the exact position of every shot, and triangulates a 3D point cloud from matched features. This is the same math surveyors and mapping satellites use.
The point cloud becomes 177,890 microscopic points of tinted, semi-transparent color. Thirty thousand optimization passes adjust each point's position, size, and color until a render of the model matches the source photographs. The technique is called 3D Gaussian splatting, published by researchers in 2023.
The model compresses to a 3.1 MB file that runs at 60 frames per second in a phone browser. No app, no plugin, no download. It embeds anywhere a video embeds.
